Vibe coder: profession, vacancies, and required skills

What employers look for in vibe coding: three job examples, required skills, and a portfolio without fake experience.

Knowing how to ask an AI to generate a page is a good start. But an employer needs a result: a working product, clear limitations, and a person capable of fixing a failure. The title "vibe coder" itself does not define either level or salary.

What real job postings show

Checked October 19, 2026: the vacancies listed below are no longer active. These are examples of requirements, not a selection of open positions. Three ads do not describe the entire Ukrainian market.

BOMI: prototypes and no-code

Ad from May 5, 2026 connects work with prototyping and no-code tools. Practical takeaway: it is important to quickly validate an idea and explain what in the prototype is real and what is just a demonstration.

Suspilne: processes, API, and data

In vacancies from July 30, 2026 refers to process automation, integrations, and working with data. Here, a beautiful screen is not enough: an understanding of the connections between systems and data access is required.

Symfony development: AI complements the technical base

Full Stack Symfony Developer / Vibe Coding Job Ad contains standard developer requirements: PHP, Symfony, MySQL, Git, and Docker. Having 'Vibe coding' in the title does not turn such a job into a position that requires no technical knowledge.

What a client might pay for

Not for the number of prompts, but for the solved task. For example: a client can change prices on the site themselves; a report is gathered from the necessary sources; a form submission actually reaches the responsible person. These are possible service results, not a guarantee of earnings.

Five skills worth demonstrating

  1. Task definition. Who needs the result, what the input data is, and what constitutes success.
  2. Code reading. Explaining where the state is stored, what a button does, and where a request goes.
  3. Verification. A normal scenario, empty fields, erroneous data, and service failure.
  4. Version control. Saving a working state, viewing differences, and reverting an unsuccessful change.
  5. Data responsibility. Not hiding keys in public JavaScript, not bypassing access checks for the sake of a demo.

This is our educational recommendation based on the nature of the work, not a literal list of all requirements from three employers.

Portfolio without fake clients

Start with three free exercises. For each, show the initial task, the working version, your own change, and the verification. In the next step, complete one project for a specific person and get feedback on usability — only with their consent to publish.

Description of my learning project: Task: ... Who it helps: ... What AI did: ... What I changed and can explain: ... How I verified the result: ... What is not yet working / implemented: ... Link to demo and code: ...

Example of the first project in a portfolio

Learning task, not a client case: create a service page with three work examples and a contact button. You can use our open sampleas a base, and then change the structure and content to fit your task.

  • Boundaries: a single page without payment, a personal account, or form submissions to a database.
  • AI contribution: record exactly which files and blocks it created. Save the initial version for comparison.
  • Your own contribution: choose one change that you can explain, for example, the order of cards on a phone or the visible focus of a button. Show the difference before and after.
  • Proof of readiness: link to demo and code, a screenshot of the mobile version, the actual result of a contact check, and keyboard navigation.
  • Testing boundaries: name the browsers and devices you actually used. Don't write "works everywhere" after a single glance.

In an interview, be ready to show: where the contact info changes; why cards don't overflow the screen; how to revert to a previous version if the next edit broke the page. If you can't explain it yet, ask an AI to analyze the relevant files and check the explanation yourself.

What to ask before applying for a job

What are the expected results for the first month? Who reviews the code? Is there work with personal data? Which tools are allowed and who pays for them? Who supports the product after launch? Answers are more useful than a trendy job title.

You can't determine the "average vibe coder salary" from three job postings. Likewise, a successful founder's story doesn't show a beginner's typical income. For your first paid task, see the practical guide on services and estimates, and for checking the result — the material on checking AI code..
