How to convert audio to text in Ukrainian and get a useful summary
A one-hour meeting does not become useful just because it turned into twenty pages of text. You need to find a solution, preserve doubts, and not assign a task to a person that they did not agree to. We break down the entire path: from recording to a verifiable summary.

Which tool we are using as an example
In this scenario, we use Gemini Notebook, also known as NotebookLM. Current Google help describes audio import with transcription and notes Ukrainian among the supported languages. Button names may vary depending on the interface language.
The audio file becomes a text source that you can ask questions about. Google warns that poor audio quality may hinder import. Therefore, start with a short fragment rather than your entire library of recordings. We have not measured the service's accuracy on our own Ukrainian audio corpus.
Step 1. Prepare the recording and permission to use it
Ensure you have the right to record the conversation and transfer it to an external service. For private work meetings, first coordinate this with participants and organizational rules. Start your training with a short monologue without personal data.
At the beginning of the test recording, state the topic and date. Say one number, one first name, and one unfinished agreement — for example: "The budget is not yet approved; Olena proposed 4500 hryvnias." This will create specific points that can be verified after transcription.
Step 2. Add the file as a source
Create a new notebook, select add source, and upload the audio file. The help documentation lists MP3, WAV, and M4A among the supported formats. Wait for the import to complete, open the source, and verify that the content actually appeared. A successful file upload does not, in itself, confirm a correct transcription.
Listen to the beginning, middle, and end of the original and compare it with the text. Separately verify numbers, negations, and surnames. "Did not agree" and "agreed" differ by only one word but create opposite tasks. If a piece is missing, split the recording into smaller parts and repeat the import.
Copy and paste your data
Work only with the selected source. Prepare the summary in Ukrainian. Divide it into: topic; explicitly decided solutions; proposals without a decision; tasks; open questions; areas for manual verification. For each solution/task, provide a short fragment from the source. If the performer or timeframe is not named — write "not specified". Do not turn intentions and questions into obligations. Separately list all amounts, dates, names, and negations for verification against the audio. Add a timestamp only if it is in the source; otherwise, do not invent it. Do not supplement unintelligible parts based on context.Download TXT
Step 3. Separate solutions, proposals, and open questions
Do not just ask to "summarize briefly." Define a structure in which the model cannot stealthily turn assumptions into facts. Every action requires a performer and a timeframe, but if they weren't named — that's how it should be written. An unknown deadline is better than an invented Friday.
For a training sentence about a budget, the correct summary is: "Proposal — 4500 UAH; no decision on the budget." Incorrect: "Olena approved the 4500 UAH budget." This is our fictional example for testing logic, not a factual result of the service.
Step 4. Verify the summary against the source
Verify each decision against the provided transcription fragment and the audio itself. Do not demand exact timestamps if they are not in the available source: the model might generate a plausible time. In that case, ask for a verbatim short fragment for searching and mark the location in the recording yourself.
Before passing it to colleagues, remove unnecessary private details. Do not share the entire notebook just for a short task list: review access rights and share only the result that is actually needed. For important agreements, obtain confirmation from the participants.
What remains as output
Save three files: the original recording, the corrected transcription, and the agreed-upon summary. In the summary, note the recording date and who verified the key decisions. If no one verified them, do not hide this uncertainty for the sake of a clean layout.
Download short checklist. Then you can build a presentation from a verified summary or learn how to find fabricated statements.
